Meet Sireen Abudayeh: A Welcoming Space for Children, Teens, and Adults

Finding a counselor can feel personal before the first conversation even begins. You may wonder whether you will feel understood, whether your child will feel comfortable, or whether you will have to explain your family’s culture before you can talk about what hurts.

Sireen Abudayeh’s approach begins with making room for your experience.

A Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practicum Student at Orland Park Counselors, Sireen provides counseling under clinical supervision. Her approach emphasizes empathy, acceptance, and a collaborative relationship where people can explore challenges without feeling judged.

Counseling that starts with listening

Sireen’s approach is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy: the belief that people bring their own strengths, experiences, and understanding of their lives into counseling. She also values incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to explore connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions.

You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of everything that is wrong. Sometimes the first step is simply having space to say, “I have been having a hard time.”

Supporting children through connection and play

For a child, explaining a difficult feeling may be harder than showing it through play, drawing, or storytelling. Sireen’s interests include helping children express emotions and feel understood.

Developmentally appropriate, play-based activities can make counseling more approachable while creating opportunities to practice communication and coping skills.

Parents and caregivers are part of the conversation, too. Understanding what happens at home and school helps guide goals that matter to the child and family.

A place for teenagers and adults

Sireen welcomes adolescents and adults navigating emotional challenges and life transitions. Counseling can offer space to explore family expectations, relationships, identity, and the pressure to appear fine when life feels difficult. Her goal is to meet each person where they are and work collaboratively toward meaningful change.

Support during pregnancy and motherhood

Sireen also has an interest in maternal mental health, including the emotional adjustment to pregnancy and life after childbirth. These conversations can include changing identity, expectations about motherhood, relationship strain, asking for support, and concerns about prenatal or postpartum depression. When additional assessment or medical treatment is needed, care can be coordinated with appropriate providers.

Counseling in Arabic and English

Sireen offers counseling in Arabic and English. Being able to discuss personal experiences in a preferred language can be an important part of choosing a counselor.

Whatever brings you to counseling, you deserve a conversation where your experiences are taken seriously.
